OK, so here's the deal. If you're going to buy something online from one of these merchants anyway, how about doing so by clicking through one of these banners. It won't cost you a dime more and we'll get a commission, which will help maintain this site. Plus, the rest of our pages won't be littered with banners and ads. Last year we made almost $8! See, we're not trying to get rich, just pay for some electricity. It's all presented by:
OK, here's the nightmare. You come home after a great day of
skiing only to find your computer has died and all your data is lost. Sure, you
always meant to do an up-to-date backup, but never got around to it. Even if you
did back up, your data is scattered over a zillion cd's, zip disks and floppies.
Retrieving that data and restoring it is a royal, time consuming pain.
Not me, you say? I have a back-up hard drive. Well, so did I until a
lightning bolt hit my neighbor's yard and static electricity took out my
computer's hard drive and my back-up USB drive. My machine was unplugged from
both the electricity and cable and still got nailed!
The antidote/insurance for situations like these is Carbonite, a
web-based backup system that costs as little as $3.75 per month. It's fast and
simple to set up (set it and forget it), does not slow your computer, backs up
all your data (documents, pictures, music), has an unlimited capacity, and can
restore your data to a repaired or new computer. If you use a laptop, it backs
up your stuff no matter where you happen to be. Best -- it's off site, so even
if your house burns down your data is safe. You can even try it for free for 15
days -- with no credit card information required!
I use Carbonite and I would never be without it. --
